The Student Technology Fund (STF) equitably and transparently stewards use of student fees in support of technology initiatives that advance undergraduate, graduate, and professional school students’ academic and co-curricular experiences at UC Berkeley. The STF supports efforts that span academic disciplines, champions initiatives that are both innovative and practical in nature, and it pays particular attention to ensuring that the needs of historically underserved students are equitably met. STF centers students' voices as agents of their own resources and includes a diverse representation from the community in its Committee and staff composition.
Our Work in Brief
The Student Technology Fee is $51 / semester fee for commercial software licensing and student technology projects. After passing at the ballot through a student-initiated referendum, students were first assessed the STF in Spring 2014. Read this impact overview of the STF, or dive into details by reviewing the grant projects and software we've funded since our inception. You can also read the original STF referendum. The STF is governed by students, for students. Students, such as those organizing in this group, will determine whether, and if so, how to renew the STF in Spring 2021.
