Software Description: 365 is a collection of services that includes access to Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other cloud services. It comes with access to the latest features, security patches, and fixes. Microsoft Windows Desktop Operating System (OS) upgrades include Windows 8.1 Professional, and Windows 10 Education.

Funding Support Structure: Students, through their payment of the Student Tech Fee, pay 1/3 the cost of the UC Berkeley's contract with Microsoft. This gives them access to Microsoft Office's productivity suite including Excel, Powerpoint, Word, and operating system upgrades at a much better rate than they would get on the open market, even at the educational rate. Windows 7 and 8 will stopped receiving security patches at the end of January 2020, but students need not purchase a new device. They can upgrade their operating system to Windows 10 by following the these instructions.
